Green Doors needs YOUR help to raise awareness about homelessness in the Austin community. On Wednesday, May 27th, 100 'panhandlers' / people will take to the streets of Austin with signs that direct folks to our new website to view our first Tex S. Taxpayer video highlighting veteran homelessness.
We need more volunteers to hold signs during the morning, lunch hour, and rush hour in some key locations in central Austin such as 6th and Lamar, the 1st Street and Congress Bridges, the Capitol, and the Drag. Here are the specific details.
2-4 volunteers are needed at prominent intersections and streets in Central Austin during one of three shifts:
MORNING 8:00A-9:00A
LUNCH 12:00P-1:00P
EVENING 5:00P-6:00P
The specific locations will be decided after getting a count of the interested volunteers.
If you would like to volunteer, please RSVP with Greg Esparza by email at gesparza@austinhomeless.org or by phone at 469-9130.
Founded in 1990 by a formerly homeless young woman, Green Doors is a non-profit community housing development organization whose mission is to help end homelessness by providing safe, affordable housing and access to supportive services for those working to achieve independent living.
